A Night with Finneas at the Grammy Museum
The award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Finneas had a live conversation with fans and performed at the Grammy Museum on September 9th. The event took place on the museum’s beautiful rooftop, and experiencing him live while hearing him discuss his work made the night unforgettable. Moderated by Nile Rodgers, the conversation dove into Finneas’s creative process, how he approaches songwriting for himself and other artists, and the ways collaboration has shaped his career. He revealed the challenges and excitement of constantly pushing his sound forward, while also emphasizing the importance of staying grounded in the stories he wants to tell. One of my favorite moments was when Finneas mentioned that, many years ago, his ultimate goal was to open at the Fonda Theatre (a 1,200-capacity venue), and at that point, he would have felt like he had “made it.” It’s wild to hear that and then see all the things he’s done since that have far surpassed that goal.
Nile and Finneas had a very playful energy with each other, making the conversation super fun and engaging. Despite some interruption from loud honking in the streets of LA, Finneas leaned into it, joking along and acknowledging the noise in a lighthearted way. The conversation wrapped with audience questions, including why he chooses certain songs to put on his setlists.
The night ended with him playing a four-song set from his latest album including “For Crying Out Loud”, “2001”, “Little Window”, and “Cleats” with his band including a perfect finish to an intimate and inspiring evening.
